Stopping Your Allergies

When you have allergies, you have an abnormal physical reaction to specific foods, pollens, mold spores, dust, animal hairs and dander, feathers, insect bites, grass, a detergent and many other chemicals or substances that don’t bother other people.  These substances or chemicals are called antigens or allergens.

Allergy Symptoms

When you are exposed to these substances that you are allergic to, your body releases histamine and a variety of pro-inflammatory substances.  Your symptoms maybe itchy throat or ears, sinusitis , nasal congestion, increase in mucus release, headaches, hay fever, conjunctivitis, asthma, hives, rashes and many other similar conditions.

Other symptoms can be sneezing, wheezing, skin eruptions, fatigue, coughing, and swelling of the tongue or throat.

An allergic reactions starts when your immune system believes these substance are a threat to your system and release histamines.  Your immune system has over reacted to these normally harmless substances.

Some allergic reactions can be life threatening where breathing or air pathways are closed off, such as in asthma attack.  Life threatening reactions require immediate medical attention.

Causes of Allergies

If you have a lot of mucus in your body you attract and store many of the allergic substances.  These substances can irritate your body and coupled with a depressed immune system, which can not deal with these irritations, they can cause your immune system to release histamine.

Poor digestion of food, highly toxic body, acid body, nutritional deficiencies, and a narrow limited diet can also be the cause of allergies.  All of these conditions lower your immune system and don’t allow your immune system to deal with these allergens in the normal way.

Recommended Natural Remedies or Therapies for Allergies

The action to take in allergies is the obvious step to avoid those substances that create your allergies.  This is not always possible since these substances may be work or environmentally related.  Here are the natural remedies to take:

  1. Essential fatty acid – these oils are essential, since they are anti-inflammatory and they block the production of the pro-inflammatory Arachidonic acid, AA.  AA is produced by eating saturated and hydrogenated fats.  You can use Fish Oil which contains EPA and DHA.  Use 1500 mg to 2000 mg.  GLA which is an anti-inflammatory can be obtained from evening primrose, black currant seed or borage oil and used in amounts of 1000 mg to 1500 mg.

  2. Anti- oxidants – are needed by all parts of the body to neutralize free radicals that are constantly entering your body or being created in your body.  Free radicals overload of your immune system.  Neutralize these free radicals by providing your body with anti-oxidants such as Coenzyme Q10, Vitamin E, Alpha-Lipoic Acid, N-Acetyl-Cysteine, Quercitin, and Vitamin C.  All of these anti-oxidants are have different activities and benefits in your body.

  3. MSM – or methlsulfonylmethane reduces inflammation and allergic reactions.  Use 3000 to 6000 mg.  One side effect of MSM is increased bowel movements.  The higher the dose the more frequent bowel movements you will have.

  4. Reduce stress- since stress contributes to allergies.  Using a calcium-magnesium supplement helps relax muscles and tissues which tend to tighten and cause air flow blockage.

  5. Protease or digestive enzymes – used between meals so that these enzymes can get into your blood stream to digest or dissolve and antigens that are floating in you blood stream causing allergies.
