Avocado The Super Complete Food

For your body to use amino acids, as provided in protein, all amino acids must be available during digestion to be absorbed into your body. Avocado contains all of the amino acids so it is quickly digested and absorbed in your small intestine.
Avocado originated in Central America and Mexico. It was known as alligator or avocado pear. It was also called midshipman’s butter by British petty officers.
Monounsaturated fat and avocado
Avocado is one of the healthiest foods available. Many people believe it is fatting to eat avocados. But, they contain around 5 grams of fat of which 3 grams is monounsaturated fat. This fat is the best fat over omega-3 and omega-6 fats. It also lowers LDL and increases HDL and this is what you want. The fat in avocados helps reduce cholesterol levels, keeps your heart healthy, and fights cancer.
Avocado and it nutrients
Avocados contain all the B-vitamins, which makes it a great fruit and it is also quite high in folate, potassium, vitamin C, D, E, and K. It has more potassium than bananas. One avocado has 400 mcg of folate, which is ½ of the RDA requirements.
Avocado and phytochemicals
Avocados also contain numerous phytochemicals, which help prevent many major diseases. It contains more of the Phytosterol, beta-sitosterol, than most other fruits. Sitosterol lowers cholesterol by preventing it from being absorbed in the intestines.
Studies also show that beta-sitosterol substantially lowers blood serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels even when you don’t change your diet or exercise habits.
In addition, it is the main Phytosterol that prevents or reverses BPH, prostate enlargement.
Avocados contain the master antioxidant Glutathione. This antioxidant is used throughout the body and in cells to neutralize free radicals. Avocado has three times more Glutathione that other fruit.
Avocados are easy to prepare and eat. You can slice them and add them to salads. You can mash them and spread them on bread with lettuce and tomatoes for a vegetarian sandwich. You can make an avocado dip by mashing them and adding chili sauce, onions, lemon juice, and cut up tomatoes. Or, you can make a summer smoothie by combing ice, rice milk, and avocado into a blender. After it is creamy serve in a bowl with cut up banana and mango slices.
Now you know why avocados are a super food. Eat at least 2 avocados weekly to keep your cholesterol down and to keep in good health.
