Discover the Various Nutrition Methods that can Help You Get Well
Rudy Silva, Nutritional ConsultantBroccoli and Prostate Cancer
In a recent study at Mt. Sinai
School of Medicine in New York,
researchers found that eating cruciferous vegetables, which includes broccoli,
showed reduced prostate cancer risk. The
study showed that eating two or more servings per month of cruciferous
vegetables gave this protection. I eat
more than two servings per month and I suspect most people do, if they like
brussel sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, and broccoli.
Statins for Prostate health
In tests with Statins, a lowering cholesterol drug, researchers found that in 1200 men taking statins, their PSA levels dropped. PSA is a blood marker that indicates prostate health. A high PSA points to a higher risk of developing prostate cancer. Doctors were enthusiastic about the possibility of using this drug for reducing PSA levels.
Other naturopathic doctors were not ready to accept this finding as the best method of lowering PSA levels, because it’s a new discovery and it’s a drug with side effect. Also there are more natural ways to lower PSA levels without the use of drugs.
